Soldering is the safest, tightest and most durable connection of metal components.
All of these qualifications are extremely important, especially when using metal workpieces on the roof and facade of buildings, in order to protect them against the ingress of water in the long term and thus against damage. In the area of roofing and building drainage, an indirect type of soft soldering is used, in which a permanent but detachable connection of the metal workpieces is made at a temperature of less than 450 ° C.
Soft soldering of Roofinox stainless steel
Stainless steel used to have a reputation for being difficult to solder. This impression was mostly created by using the wrong surface, flux and solders. However, many years of experience and scientific studies show that Roofinox HFX stainless steel can be soldered easily and reliably due to its specific surface. Did you know that?
Cause Roofinox is like no other!
A permanent and clean solder seam
The following utensils are required for the soldering seam of Roofinox HFX stainless steel to be permanent and clean:
- Soft soldering iron with a piece of copper
- solder / tin rod (30%, 40%, 50% solder possible)
- Salmiak solder stone (pure ammonia, no tinning ammonia stone)
- Roofinox FLM – The stainless steel flux
- Soldering water brush
- Cleaning cloth or sponge
- Clear water
ATTENTION: Always use suitable safety and protective equipment!
Basically, the respective standards and technical rules as well as the local conditions and requirements must be taken into account when brazing stainless steel.
Decisive for a permanent and clean seam is the careful cleaning of the areas to be soldered as well as the use of the right flux (Roofinox FLM). You can find out which general conditions and preparatory measures should be taken into account and practical tips in our soldering leaflet.
