Soldering - The safest and most durable connection

Soldering is the safest, tightest and most durable way of joining metal components.

All of these qualifications are particularly important when using metal workpieces on the roof and façade of buildings in order to protect them from water ingress and thus from damage in the long term. In the field of roofing and building drainage, an indirect type of soft soldering is primarily used, in which a permanent but detachable connection of the metal workpieces is produced at a temperature of less than 450°C.

Soft soldering of ROOFINOX HFX stainless

Stainless steel used to have the reputation of being difficult to solder. This impression was mostly due to the use of the wrong surface, flux and solder. However, many years of experience and scientific studies show that ROOFINOX HFX stainless can be soldered without any problems and with reliable results thanks to its specific surface. Did you know that?

A durable and clean soldered seam

The following utensils are required to ensure that the soldered seam on ROOFINOX HFX stainless is durable and clean:

  • Soft soldering iron with copper piece
  • Solder / tin rod (30 %, 40 %, 50 % solder possible)
  • Ammonia soldering stone (pure ammonia, no tinning ammonia stone)
  • ROOFINOX FLM - The stainless steel flux
  • Soldering brush
  • Cleaning cloth or sponge
  • Clear water

ATTENTION: Always use suitable safety
safety and protective equipment!

When soldering stainless steel, the relevant standards and technical regulations as well as the local conditions and requirements must always be taken into account.

Careful cleaning of the areas to be soldered and the use of the correct flux (ROOFINOX FLM) are also crucial for a durable and clean seam. You can find out which other general conditions and preparatory measures should be taken into account and practical tips in our soldering data sheet.
