What is flashing?

Flashing is the covering and cladding of critical areas of the house with sheet metal.

Why is flashing necessary?

In every building, regardless of how it is clad, there are transitions and interfaces between different materials. These are very susceptible to water ingress if they are not properly sealed. The elementary task of flashing is therefore to seal these critical points on your house. This protects your house from water ingress and mechanical stress and prevents damage.

Where exactly are the critical points on the house?

All areas where the house is not sufficiently protected from moisture by the roof and facade coverings. For example, at transitions between slopes or different materials, at junctions, at the edge of the roof or at the base of the facade.
